Studio Awards

This is a program outlining the awards that my students are eligible to earn if they so desire.  They are 100% optional, and unlike many awards, for which one student is chosen out of all, these can be earned by all students at their own pace.

Upon earning a reward, students may enter their name into a prize raffle to be given out at the June recital.

 

One Minute Club:

The student names and plays all the notes on a set of flash cards (note range depends on student level) in under 1 minute.

 

30 Second Club:

Same task as the One Minute Club, except in under 30 seconds.

 

Recital Newbie:

Student performs at their very first recital!

 

Recital Rockstar:

Student performs at both December and June recitals.

 

Recital Veteran:

Student earns this reward when he/she has performed in 10 studio recitals.

 

Public Performance Whiz:

Student earns one point for every person who hears them perform their piece.  This can mean 2 points for a performance for parents or 30 points for a performance for a school class…

Level 1- 50 points

Level 2- 200 points

Level 3- 500 points

Level 4- 1000 points

 

Avid Concert Goer:

1 point is awarded when student attends a live performance.  An additional point is awarded when student attends with another student.  An additional 3 points are awarded if student writes a concert review- a summary of what they experienced while they were there (what was performed, the elements in the playing they liked, the things they didn’t like, why…)

Level 1- 10 points

Level 2- 20 points

Level 3- 50 points

 

Practice All Star:

Student has practiced and prepared everything asked for, for 12 lessons in a row.

 

Technique Ninja for Trumpet:

1st – 8th degree (Check out handout)

 

Technique Ninja for Piano:

1st – 8th degree (Check out handout)

 

Sight Reading Ace:

Completes 5 sight-reading exercises weekly for 5 consecutive weeks (material provided by Karen).

 

Rhythm Rabbit: successfully tap 5 rhythms of Karen’s choosing correctly without hesitation

Rhythm Fox: successfully tap 10 rhythms of Karen’s choosing correctly without hesitation

Rhythm Cheetah: successfully tap 20 rhythms of Karen’s choosing correctly without hesitation

Rhythm Monster: successfully tap 40 rhythms of Karen’s choosing correctly without hesitation

 

Interval Cadet: can correctly identify 7/10 intervals by ear as steps, skips, and staying the same.

Interval Sergeant: can correctly identify 7/10 intervals by ear as seconds, thirds, and fifths.

Interval Inspector: can correctly identify 7/10 intervals by ear as major/minor/perfect seconds to fifths.

Interval Chief: can correctly identify 8/10 intervals by ear as major/minor/perfect/augmented/diminished 2nds to octaves.

 

Key Signature One Minute Club:

Correctly identify the major and minor key signatures on flash cards in less than one minute (up to 4 sharps or flats).

 

History Buff:

Complete a history project on one composer and learn a piece by that composer.

 

Nightmare Fortnight Challenge:

Large surprise challenge to be completed in 2 weeks.

 

Weekly Facebook Challenge:

Successfully complete 12 of the weekly Facebook Challenges.  Challenges are posted every Tuesday on Nakajima Music’s Facebook page.
